We strive to be sensitive to the needs of the insured and realize that we must be reactive to the many concerns expressed by both travelers and their agents.
In our continued effort to stay on top of changing world events and especially the needs of the traveler, we are pleased to announce a number of major benefit improvements to our TripAdvantage product. These following new features will be added at no additional premium and are included in all policies issued August 8, 2006 and after. For Trip Cancellation:
- A new benefit of up to $150 to cover re-banking fees associated with frequent flyer tickets.
- A new benefit of up to $150 to cover airline change or re-issue fees when a trip is canceled by a travel supplier of land or water travel arrangements.
- Trip Cancellation coverage is extended to include a cancellation due to a Hurricane Warning issued by the NOAA National Hurricane Center for the scheduled Trip destination (this coverage is for the 24 hour period before Scheduled Departure Date and time and is subject to the Trip Cancellation coverage being in force at least 15 days prior to the cancellation).
- Trip Cancellation coverage is extended to allow a cancellation due to a Mental, Nervous or Psychological Disorder requiring hospitalization of 3 days or more.
- Trip Cancellation coverage is extended to include death or hospitalization of a Host, as defined in the policy.
For Trip Interruption:
- The Trip Interruption coverage is now extended to include a delayed arrival on a Trip due to an airline cancellation caused by a government mandated shutdown of an airport or air traffic control system for reasons other than a Terrorist Act or an act of war.
For Trip Cancellation and Interruption:
- Coverage is extended in the event an Insured, Immediate Family Member traveling with you or Traveling Companion is called into emergency service of government in the case of military, police or fire personnel to provide aid or relief in the event of a natural disaster.
- The Immediate Family Member definition has been extended to include "Care Givers." A Care Giver means an individual employed for the purpose of providing assistance with activities of daily living to the Insured or to his or her Immediate Family Member who has a physical or mental impairment. The Care Giver must be employed by the Insured or his or her Immediate Family Member. Care Giver does not include a babysitter, child care service facility or provider or persons employed by any service, provider or facility to supply assisted living or skilled nursing personnel.
- Coverage is extended in the event the Insured’s workplace or Trip destination is made uninhabitable due to burglary, vandalism, fire, flood and other natural disasters.
General Changes:
The Travel Insurance Certificate has been changed to include more specific and detailed information regarding:
- The 24 Hour Medical Assistance Services
- The 24 Hour Travel Assistance Services
- The Insured’s Duties In The Event of a Loss
- Inclusion of the Policy General Provisions
